Browser storage / 2026 edition

Stored Preferences

Cookies and local storage are different browser mechanisms. Neither is needed to read these engineering notes.

What the terms mean

A cookie is a small value that a browser may send with requests to a matching website. Local storage holds values on your device for access by scripts from the same origin; it is not automatically sent with each page request. Session storage is another browser mechanism generally limited to a page session. All can be relevant to privacy rules depending on their purpose.

Storage used by the supplied pages

The editorial pages and their shared script do not set cookies, read or write local storage, or use session storage. They include no advertising or analytics code. Navigation and reveal effects operate in memory. Closing or reloading a page resets that interface state.

A separately provided site-level consent control, if displayed, may remember your Accept or Essential Only choice. Any such control should identify the storage it uses and provide a way to revisit the choice. Accepting a preference prompt does not by itself mean that advertising or analytics are present in these pages.

The enquiry composer is not a stored draft

Enquiry fields and the generated preview are handled in the current page without submission. The composer does not deliberately retain a draft after reload. Your browser may separately offer autofill or restore form fields according to its own settings.

Copying places the prepared text on your clipboard after your action. Downloading creates a text file on your device. These are not cookies. Clipboard history, cloud synchronisation, backups and downloaded-file retention are controlled by your device and other services you use.

Optional processing and choice

Non-essential storage or tracking, if introduced, requires clear information and appropriate consent where the law requires it. Refusing optional processing should not prevent access to the core informational pages. A future change should explain the purpose, provider, storage duration and method for withdrawing consent before the optional processing begins.

Managing browser data

Use your browser's site settings to inspect and remove cookies and stored data for norvepixellantern.buzz. You can also restrict storage globally, although that may affect other websites. Clearing stored preferences can cause a separately provided consent control to ask again; it does not delete email you have sent or files you have downloaded.

To remove a downloaded enquiry, delete the file and any relevant backup copies. Manage clipboard history through your operating system or clipboard application. To stop browser autofill, use your browser's form and privacy settings.
